Sharp Practise release their new single ‘Sound of Rock’ on April 5th. Comprising of Nigel Clothier, Michael Elwood, Ryan Lawson and Simon Foley, Sharp Practise formed in 1999 and released their debut album to rave reviews and a worldwide radio playlisting, making television appearances in LA and Australia. Gaining recognition and radio airplay across the globe including US colleges, Australian indie networks and numerous internet stations, single Bed of Rhythm spent 11 weeks on the World Underground Chart in Australia, peaking at number 3. The melding of sounds and influences is best described by frontman Nigel Clothier when he says “We are a rock band that can play with influences from folk to dance yet still create a sound that is recognised as Sharp Practise and no other band, we’re fighting a crusade to get well-played, proper songs back into the charts around the world”. ‘Sharp Practise play classic English rock, with more than a nod towards folk and blues’ Fatea Magazine Having won a Kweevak Award in 2006 and a Glasswerk UK New Music Award in 2007, Sharp Practise enlisted producer Niall Ladyglove to produce albums for the band and Fran Ashcroft (Travis) to master. To coincide with the release of Sound of Rock, Sharp Practise are gearing up for a free UK tour throughout spring 2010, including the following dates- 21st April- Firebug, Leicester/ 22nd April- Old Bookbinders, Oxford/ 23rd April- Tower of Song, Birmingham/ 28th April- Bannermans, Edinburgh/ 29th April- Faversham, Leeds/ 4th May- Troubadour, London/ 5th May- Deaf Institute, Manchester ‘With an interesting mixture of all rock styles, no matter if classic rock, blues or folk the one thing that sets them above almost any band in the country, is their insanely catchy melodies.’ Vaughanmedia Sharp Practise is a classic rock band but not an over the top screaming yelling rock n' roll monster. They have the sound of a band who like to keep things quiet and wouldn't say no to an acoustic set, but not tonight: tonight they wanna rock. And rock they do, with a pure rock'n’roll feeling. Sharp Practise have proven themselves to be adept at loud'n'hooky rockers, brash and moving anthems, and plaintive guitar pop, with clean hooks and lyrics filled with imagery. Sharp Practise’s new album Banging The Rocks is out now on the Ryeharbour Records. It is available from the band’s website, from CD Baby, and from various outlets worldwide either as a CD or by download.
